The client desired to build a ground-up ADU unit in the backyard to serve as a rental unit. The unit features high ceilings in the living area with a direct connection to the kitchen. A few steps up, at the end of the unit, is a private bedroom.

The ADU is situated on a challenging hillside site, including expansive clay soils, and falls under a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone (VHFHSZ), which required additional jurisdiction reviews.  Once the project was completed, the unit was able to be rented out immediately!
